Lenka Pospisilova

Lenka Pospisilova (born in 1960 in Prague) has finished her studies on the pedagogical faculty at the Charles University in Prague (branch: Music education and Czech language). In the following two years she was employed as a pianist accompanying dancers on the Conservatory in Prague and began to teach in a grammar school with special music education. She was an assistant at the excellent teacher and musician Pavel Jurkovic – a friend of Carl Orff and promoter of his methods in Czech Republic. With his help she was able to visit the summer courses on Carl Orff Institute in Salzburg (1988), thus having opportunity to deepen her expertise in this field and meet other pioneers of these ideas.

Since 1992 Lenka Pospisilova has been teaching in a grammar school in Letnany (children aged 6 – 15) where she founded the classes with special music education. In the timetable of obligatory school children have three lessons of music-education per week, every class being an orchestra as well as a choir as well. With these children she has the possibility to play on concerts in France, Hungary, Portugal, Germany, Poland, Slovenia, Lithuania and Holland.

As an externist she is also teaching didactic approaches to music on the Pedagogical faculty of the Charles University in Prague.

In her work, Lenka Pospisilova tries to unite various arts of music and other musical activities (singing, playing Orff and classical instruments, movement, listening, improvisation, drama etc.

To hand over her experiences in music she teaches in courses in many towns in Czech Republic and also abroad. She was teaching in seminars in Switzerland, Germany, Portugal, Poland, Lithuania, Slowak, Slovenien, Chroatia and Orff Institute in Salzburg (at summer courses).

With her husband she organizes courses for teachers, but also for whole families in the “Workshop of music and arts for children and parents”. (This was also their topic for the conference ISME on Florida, where they were invited in the year 1994).
