Come join our guest presenter Jon Madin as he ventures into the world of wild and wacky instruments. Jon travels Australia with his wonderful contraptions exciting students and teachers alike - you will not want to miss out on this workshop.

Jon will be joined by our local presenters Michael McConnochie and Robyn Reuther as they shared tried and tested lessons.

Participants will:

  • Get hands on lesson ideas for students from R-6

  • Receive comprehensive session notes

  • Get to network with like minded teachers

  • Have access to resource sales

  • Have a fun day of music making

Level 1 Course

OSASA is pleased to offer the National Accredited Level 1 Course.

See Levels Course page for more details about course content and experience required.

The Orff Schulwerk Courses are designed to immerse participants in the Orff approach to teaching music. Devised by Carl Orff, this approach seeks to develop the inherently musical qualities in all people through an active and creative learning process.

Level 1 includes studies in Movement and Dance, Orchestration, Technique and Improvisation, Recorder, Vocal, Pedagogy and History of Orff Schulwerk.

Accreditation certificate is attained through successfully completing all assessment tasks during the course and attending the required 37 contact hours. A participation certificate will be given if these requirements are not met.

Requirements

The Level 1 Course starts at a basic level of music knowledge but moves at an accelerated pace over the week. There is assumed knowledge of basic music theory and a willingness to participate and learn in all subjects.

-Descant/soprano recorder (Level 1)

-Lead pencil and eraser

Fees include:

-37 hours of high quality training
-Comprehensive course notes
-Professional Development Certificate

Monday 30 September to Friday 4 October
(first week of SA school holidays)

Venue:

Unley Primary School

Times:

8:15am to 5:15pm daily

Morning tea and tea/coffee supplied each day, bring your own lunch and keep cup.

OSASA is pleased to be bringing Mary Walton from WA to our Term 3 Workshop alongside our local presenters Kirrabelle Lovell and Alexandra Dalman.

Our special guest presenter, Mary, has gained her skills and interests over twenty-five years of study and participation. In 2014/15 she completed the Advanced Studies in Music & Movement, Orff Schulwerk at the Orff Institute in Salzburg and prior to that completed her Orff Level courses in Australia and USA. Currently, she is principal of a WA primary school who are revolutionising the way education is implemented.

Participants will:

  • Get hands on lesson ideas for students from R-6

  • Receive comprehensive session notes

  • Get to network with like minded teachers

  • Have access to resource sales

  • Have a fun day of music making

Morning tea and lunch will be provided along with tea/coffee.

Lunch options include (both are Gluten & Dairy Free):

- Chicken Vietnamese Salad (chicken, lettuce, carrots,
cucumber, capsicum, bean sprouts, spring onions and
mint)

- Vegetable Vietnamese Salad (Vegan - lettuce, carrots,
cucumber, capsicum, bean sprouts, spring onions and
mint)
